CAUSES
Researchers believe that there could be many contributing factors such as genetic, psychological, environmental and biological.
Drugs prescribed for conditions like cancer, heart disease, diabetes and parkinson’s disease can have depression as one of their side effects or depression could also worsen these conditions.
It could also be due to any disturbance in brain structure, for example, if the frontal lobe is less active.
Early childhood trauma could also result in depression.
Drugs and alcohol abuse are also a causative factor of depression.
